Translating complex organic designs into structural lighting requires strict control at both the drawing board and the welding bench. We recently showcased our production and rendering workflow for a custom electroplated botanical leaf chandelier, demonstrating how raw metal components are built to match digital concepts.
The manufacturing and design process follows three key engineering stages:
Manual Welding & Leaf Framing :
Technicians hand-weld each metallic leaf cluster to the branch frame using high-temperature gas welding. This ensures that every individual leaf angle matches the natural, organic flow of the design without compromising joint strength.
1:1 Full-Scale Layout & Tube Bending :
Before final assembly, the entire structure is laid out over a 1:1 engineering template on the factory floor (specifying dimensions such as Ø2000–Ø2100 mm). Workers manually bend and adjust the main metal support tubes to ensure the spiral frame precisely aligns with the architectural measurements.
3D Visualization & Finish Calibration :
To verify spatial proportion and finish quality prior to mass finishing, high-resolution 3D renderings are generated. The visualization highlights an electroplated rose-gold/copper finish across the detailed leaf veins, paired with warm LED filament bulbs to give clients an exact preview of the illuminated result in a modern interior setting.
By combining hands-on metal craftsmanship with accurate CAD engineering and 3D rendering, we eliminate discrepancies between design intent and factory output.
